This image was taken in Saguaro National Park East one morning at the Broadway Trailhead location. I hiked in about 2 miles to find this composition at 3 am and just love how the moon created this epic glow above the Saguaros!

Ironwood Forest National Monument is made up of 129,000 acres and contains a significant system of cultural and historical sites covering a 5,000-year period. Possessing one of the richest stands of ironwood in the Sonoran Desert, the monument also encompasses several desert mountain ranges including the Silver Bell, Waterman, and Sawtooth, with desert valleys in between. This is one of my favorite places to photograph due to the ragged top mountains and desert vistas!

In Leonardo da Vinci’s sketchbooks, there is a beautiful drawing of a bird in flight; hence Da Vinci Bird. The drawing was not only a drawing but also a rendering of a mind curious about the mechanics of flight. This piece is an ode to a genius who influenced the world of art, engineering, anatomy, the environment…..

Due to human influence, we have helped to create an environment that is not sustainable. Scientists are sounding the alarm that we could be in the beginning of a 6th mass extinction. We must acknowledge that we are reaching a moment in history

where there will be consequences not only for us but for all species. Olive Branch speaks to a plea for peace and camaraderie.

Decline Denial was a result of my frustration knowing we will not come close to meeting the goal of the Paris Agreement of limiting global warming to not more than 2 degrees Celsius by the year 2100. In the years after the agreement, our time frame has shortened. Our influences on our planet are now so extreme we have created a new geologic era- The Anthropocene – viewed as the period during which human activity has been the dominant influence on the climate and environment. We are just one of many species on this earth. Yet, we have managed to negatively change the intricate workings of our planet on it’s evolutionary journey.

Gaslighting, 2022

The definition of gaslighting is a manipulation by psychological means into causing someone to question their own sanity. In other words, telling someone they are not seeing what they are seeing. There are, sometimes inconveniently, things called facts and they are real. Attempting to blur the line between fact and fiction doesn’t change actual reality.
