Mariachi music is a lively and uniquely Mexican sound created with stringed instruments and trumpets. The mariachi dresses in the attire of the cowboys of Jalisco with ornamental trousers, wide bow tie, sombrero and a short jacket. In the 1940s, women also became mariachi musicians sharing this festive tradition!

The Gila Monster is a rare sighting as it lives most of it’s life underground in burrows. This venomous lizard is native to the Southwest and can grow up to two feet long.  It is quite spectacular to come across a Gila Monster. Be kind because this reptile is a protected species.

The bobcat has a large population in the Sonoran Desert. These quiet solitary creatures, twice the size of a housecat with a short tail, are stealthy hunters. Often a bobcat will wander through an urban area, across the front patio, the back yard or sip out of the swimming pool on a hot day. And, yes, they purr.
