Wilbur the Wildcat was created by University of Arizona roommates, Richard Heiler and John Paquette, and debuted during a November 7, 1959 football game. His original caricature had guns, which were removed in 2002. Wilma the Wildcat appeared on March 1, 1986. The mascots married on November 21, 1986, and remain a supportive and entertaining pair for Wildcat fans.

The desert tortoise is a herbivore who enjoys rocky hillsides and the base of mountains, and burrows using his short limbs for shelter from heat and hibernation. Like its large protective shell, the desert tortoise is protected by law.
The century plant is one of over two hundred species of agave. It is striking when its tall stalk covered with flowers emerges from its center. These colorful and unique blooms should be admired and enjoyed, for this agave only blooms once in its lifetime.
