Hummingbird on Pentstemon flower I sat on a chair in a friends backyard. They live in a desert area and have lots of birds visit their yard filled with native plants. I saw this beautiful Mel Broadbilled hummingbird fly in and got this lovely image.

I took this image while I was at Mesquite Valley growers. I live very close to the nursery and on that day it was late afternoon as the sun was setting. I had my camera with me with my macro lens as I walked by the cactus I noticed the sun was illuminating through the edges of the agave it created a beautiful hue of reds and yellows.

This is a male gambles quail. If you live in the Sonoran desert, you will see them all over. I love to watch the parents when they have their young in the spring. I once had them lay their eggs in my yard and they had 13 little babies. They are adorable birds.

Pygmy owl condos. This image is of two baby northern pygmy, owls, almost ready to fledge. I felt very lucky to have the two outlets looking out of their cavities at the same time. This is one of my favorite images.

This image was taken at the golf course at Reid Park. It’s a special image because it was published in Arizona Highways magazine. I had to go back several nights to get this photo. The parents had 13 pups and they were living in the drain pipes on the golf course. I realize mom kept them in the pipes until the sun started setting and then they would start to come out. It was a magical moment when I clicked this pic.

Black background burrowing owls are one of my favorite birds to photograph every spring for the past 7 to 8 years I go looking for these little amazing raptors. The most babies I’ve seen in one season from the one pair of parents is eight a large number for the little borrowers. I have several locations to go to. I love how this image turned out this is the female parent.
